I was born and raised in South Devon, studied chiropractic at the AECC in Bournemouth, and graduated in 2002 with a Masters Degree in Chiropractic. Then it was back to my roots to start practising! I was fortunate to be offered a position within Torbay Chiropractic Healthcare Clinics where I worked for 11 years. I am passionate about creating a place that is accessible to everyone. Being proactive about our health and looking after ourselves is something that should be available to us all, not purely the privileged few or the ones who can’t afford not to.

I’ve developed a busy family practice and thrive on the challenges posed by all different age groups, and in 2004 I was awarded Surestart contracts to offer Chiropractic treatment of newborns in Torbay to be provided via this government-funded initiative. This has helped build my reputation as a successful paediatric chiropractor and I continue to offer treatment for those as young as 5 days old. Referral of these, my youngest and most fragile of patients, often comes from local Health Visitors and Midwives.

My own experience as a busy mother of two has strengthened my passion for seeing children on a healthy path from the very start.

I vary my approach to suit your needs, but predominantly use Diversified Technique (the most widely used amongst chiropractors) and I add to this by using massage and other soft tissue techniques to relax musculature. I’m qualified in Dry Needling and I have done further post graduate training in Craniosacral techniques.

I am always happy to answer questions, and I want you to feel welcome and comfortable from the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave, feeling healthy and revived.

James knew from an early age that he wanted to work in healthcare.

His grandfather (a long-time fan of Chiropractic) suggested to James that Chiropractic should be an area for consideration. This conversation resulted in James observing at a Chiropractic clinic whilst still at school.

It was this experience that led to James’ appreciation of the benefits that Chiropractic has to offer. Having seen the profound, often rapid improvements that an accurate diagnosis combined with the appropriate care can have, James’ career path was forged.

James takes a holistic yet functional-based approach, with a strong bias towards evidence-based practice. His patients regularly comment on his caring, thorough and professional approach.

He graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic with a Masters Degree in Chiropractic, and continually furthers his knowledge and skill by attending regular seminars and post-graduate training events. Like all the Chiropractors at Riviera Wellbeing, James is registered with the General Chiropractic Council and British Chiropractic Association.

I studied acupuncture to degree Level for 4 years at the internationally renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading.

My initial training comprised of training in Traditional Chinese Medicine alongside Five Element acupuncture which are the most common styles practiced in the UK.

After graduating I discovered other styles of acupuncture that transformed the way I practised and the results I was getting with my patients. I have studied Master Tung acupuncture, (a traditional family style of acupuncture) with Philip Weeks and Susan Johnson. Because of the benefits I have witnessed using the Master Tung approach, this is now the main style I use in my clinic. Benefits of Tung-style acupuncture Tung acupuncture uses fewer needles, and incorporates many unique points specific to this style.

Needles are placed distally to where the problem may be, and can often result in immediate changes and pain reduction – often within seconds of needle insertion.
